Clean Water Here is a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness, supporting research, and advocating for safe drinking water in underserved communities across the United States and beyond.

“Water is our most precious resource, and we must use it responsibly,” says Lani Dolifka, creator of Clean Water Here and CEO of Watermill Express. “The lack of safe drinking water is one of the defining global challenges of the 21st century. Though the circumstances differ greatly between Flint, Mi chigan, and Sub-Saharan Africa, both share a common, tragic story of women and children suffering due to limited access to safe drinking water. Clean water is fundamental to the stability of any community, large or small.”

UN-Water is the United Nations inter-agency coordination mechanism for all freshwater related issues, including sanitation. Building on a long history of coordination in the UN System, UN-Water was formalized in 2003 by the United Nations High Level Committee on Programmes. It provides the platform to address the cross-cutting nature of water and maximize system-wide coordinated action and coherence. UN-Water promotes coherence in, and coordination of, UN system actions aimed at the implementation of the agenda defined by the Millennium Declaration and the World Summit on Sustainable Development as it relates to its scope of work.

To help promote The Clean Water Here Global Initiative and the work of UN Water, a celebrity-driven Cause Flash is launched every year on March 22nd – World Water Day. Each year’s social media campaign consists of the aggregated “Social Media Voices” (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram followers) of prominent individuals and organizations with specific messages relating to Clean Water Here and UN Water that instantly reaches the social media feeds of a massive global audience of hundreds of millions of followers and fans. The campaign messaging is meant to amplify the initiative and encourage the public at large to help support the cause.
