ABOUT

In 2007, the New York Comedy Festival joined forces with the Bob Woodruff Foundation to launch Stand Up for Heroes - a heartfelt tribute to the resilience of wounded, ill, and injured veterans and their families. Since its inception, this powerful event has raised over $100 million to support the Foundation’s mission: helping veterans, service members, and their loved ones build fulfilling lives after service. Founded in 2006 by ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff and his family, the Foundation arose from a personal journey, after Bob sustained life-threatening head injuries from an explosion while reporting on the Iraq war as an ABC News anchor.

THE ORIGIN

When COVID-19 swept away live events, the 14th Annual Stand Up for Heroes, initially slated for Madison Square Garden in 2020, faced cancellation. Determined to adapt, the Bob Woodruff Foundation called on David Clark and David Clark Cause - key allies who had previously elevated the foundation’s profile through the American Thunder special featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty, and Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges. Taking on the role of Executive Producer, Clark collaborated with acclaimed producer Chantel Sausedo to assemble a world-class team, successfully transitioning Stand Up for Heroes into a remarkable virtual broadcast event.
